Biography:
 
Mr. Cheatham begins his 15th consecutive year as Elementary Music Specialist with S.I.S.D., with O.Garza Elementary as his home campus. This year also marks his 3rd consecutive year as Elementary Music specialist for all Four North Elementary Campuses, teaching 5th & 6th Grade general music. He has been a U.I.L. Music Memory Coach for the past 14 years, was Choir Director of the O. Garza 5th & 6th Gr. Select Choir from 1999-2012, & was a charter Director/Organizer of the Sharyland All-District Elementary Choir from 2009-2011.

He was also Director of Choral Activities for Sharyland I.S.D. for the 1991-1992 school year, He has also taught Choir or General Music at San Benito, Donna and La Joya, as well as Rusk and Paul Pewitt C.I.S.D.in North-East Texas.

He graduated from Kilgore College in NE Texas with an Associates of Applied Arts Degree. As a member of the Ranger Band, he performed in 2 Cotton Bowl Parades & Cotton Bowl Classics, along with the Kilgore College Rangerettes, He also traveled to Hong Kong,Macau, Seoul, Korea & Honolulu, Hawaii on a performance tour.
He also attended North Texas State University, where he performed in various bands, choirs & percussion ensembles. He also became a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Professional Fraternity for Men in Music, & was named "Outstanding Sinfonian."  
 
He graduated from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, while maintaining his membership in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. As a member of the Lion's marching band, he performed at Texas Stadium for a Dallas Cowboys Monday Night Football game, and also at the Astrodome at a Houston Oilers football game. As a member of the Chorale, he travelled to London, England, Amsterdam, Holland, and Paris, France, where he performed a concert at Notre Dame Cathedral. With the Chorale, he performed annually with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the Spring Concert season, with Masterworks such as Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Carl Orf's Carmina Burana, Handel's Messiah, and Faure's Requiem.
