Martinez, Julie

Hello My Name Is...

Julie Martinez

I began my teaching career fifteen years ago with the Rio Grande City I.S.D. where I taught for 13 years.  During my tenure, I was fortunate to teach 3rd and 4th grade in a self-contained setting and three years of which was all Spanish instruction.  However, the one thing that has remained a constant in my career is my love for teaching writing.  I am currently in my second year with the Sharyland I.S.D. teaching fourth grade writing and grammar.  It is my goal to nurture confident writers, so I strive to uncover each student's strengths.  My dream is to continue to share my passion for learning and my enthusiasm and dedication as a teacher.  I love helping students gain independence with their work, and I take joy watching the bricks of their strong grammar foundation take form.  Good grammar helps to make good writers, and I love making this process fun.  My educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Bilingual Education (1st - 8th) and a Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family working on home projects; although, I can't say I know much, but I know a thing or two about drills and bits.
